O Canada

Canada Day is going to be busy as we welcome Uncle Jordan and Aunt Emmy!!

Red eyes kept for more effect :)

I hope you appreciate this French version (the Canadian anthem was written in French first after all). Now I guess I need to teach Julia the Marseillaise...

Sunday Smiles

Grandpa Bruce says that Sunday is the best day of the week. Maybe Zack agrees.

I hope he will behave better than his brother during Sacrament Meeting!

As long as he keeps smiling, we're good.

Earrings for Julia

Well, after the sad last day of school (I know, you're thinking that the last day of school can't be sad, but trust me, people were crying -like the bus driver and Ryland, the 6th grader who would take care of Julia during the ride), we decided to make Julia happy by finally (she'd been asking for a while) bringing her to get her ears pierced (and here you're thinking that that would make her cry, but no, she didn't cry or scream or anything actually).

You probably can't tell, but those are Hello Kitty earrings. We don't have TV but Hello Kitty is everywhere so she knows it's popular and since there were no princesses...

School's out!

Tomorrow is Julia's last day of school. She made it through her first year! It was hard at first, partly because we left for France in September/October and partly because she was in a split class with only 3 kids her age, everybody else being older. She learnt to adapt though and has made lots of progress. The teacher was quite impressed by the change. She told us that academically Julia is very good and she asked us if she takes after her mom or her dad... Her report card is once again very positive. I am especially impressed by the fact that she can already read a bit, in French. Here is a video of Julia reading words I wrote on a piece of paper, random names of animals. These are words that she hasn't practiced at all, some she doesn't even know (as it is the female name, easier to read but less used.)

Soon, she'll be reading English :) She can also write phonetically, if you talk very slowly, and I hope she also has her dad's maths skills, because she's definitely not going to get any from me..Anyway, good job Julia.

Her "end of school trip" was at the airport, where, to finish their social studies program, they explored all possible jobs, from pilots to mechanics.

No, Julia doesn't want to become a flight attendant. When asked to pick something and dress accordingly, she chose "cook" and brought to school what she calls "Ashley's apron" (Aunt Ashley gave her an apron with Disney princesses on it) with a wooden spoon. The teacher asked what she was making them and she answered "soup." When asked what was in the soup, she replied: "tomatoes." I guess she chose something that looks like what I do, because, even after asking him, she still has no clue what her dad does.

Once the curriculum was finished, they got to play. There were pools with a water slide one day and they also had a Survivor Day today.

Voila, it's over now for the summer and I hope she won't get bored. She was already mad at me today because I went to pick her up but she wanted to go on the bus to be with her friend Mia...Maybe we'll go visit Mia during the break and enjoy friends without homework! Let's have fun, school is over! That's basically what this song means (not sure if it exists in English too.)

School is not over for long though...August 30th will come pretty fast...

...hopefully she'll be ready!

Happy Fathers' Day !

Julia couldn't wait and gave the card and drawing she made at school for her dad on Friday.

The drawing represents her dad, before his haircut she said. In the card there is a poem. I know most of you don't know French, but some of you do, so here is the video.

Zack also had something to say to his dad.

Kelden, on the other hand, doesn't have anything to say, he can't even give a proper smile for the camera...oh well...

With Keld, we are also celebrating Grandpa Bruce.

And my Dad as well.

Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads !!

Kelden's first haircut

Aunt Ashley was kind enough to come to our place yesterday to cut Keld and Kelden's hair. We were a bit worried about Kelden's reaction, but he was actually very good, watching WoodyBuzz on the ipod.

Doesn't he look much better ?  Thanks again Aunt Ashley!

2 months # 2 ?

Kelden likes his brother so much I have to make sure he doesn't smother him! He "speaks" like his brother, he "plays" like his brother, he even cries like his brother (poor me!). He wants to do everything like his brother.

Not enough room for two in the car seat. A good thing there is enough in the stroller. Kelden likes to take his brother for walks.

What can I say, he loves his brother because, like the shirt says:

Hopefully, they love each other like that during their whole lives and forever!

This picture shows how the bugs loved Kelden at the cottage. Notice too the length of the hair, so you can compare with the next pictures...

2 months old

Zack is now two months old and so I brought him to the nurse today for his first shots. He weighs 13 pounds 7 ounces (but feels even heavier) and measures approximately 23 inches. Eyes and heartbeat were fine. The needles made him scream quite loud but he calmed down pretty quickly.  He's growing fine and we're happy.

I'm especially happy that he sleeps better than the others. He can sleep from 10pm to 4am, and it has happened on nights when I didn't have to get up for the others either! What more can I ask for?

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!

Guess what's for breakfast today (besides hot chocolate)? Yep, cheesecake!

Don't be too jealous, Jordan, I made it so it's not that great, it's burnt. But I thought I would try your favorite cake on your birthday- my excuse to make a cheesecake (since Keld doesn't really like cheesecakes, I need a good excuse). I actually thought that you had cheesecake every birthday but, once again, I was wrong.

You too like chocolate :) Happy Birthday to our favorite Uncle Jordan!!!!

A Visit from Utah: The End

All good things must come to an end? I don't know. But the visit from Utah did come to an end. Goodbye Dave, Alli, Jordan and Caitie.

These were Jordie's goodbye kisses to his newest cousins. I think he's ready for his little brother coming next month. We're ready too, but for us, he's not coming until next year...

A Visit from Utah: Fun at Home

Jordie slept over at our place only once. He didn't sleep much, but I think he had fun.

No, the party was at Grandpa Bruce and Special's. Not only do they have the pool, but they also have the playground. Kelden really likes that one particular spot where he can turn a wheel facing the water (so we pretend he's driving a boat).

He doesn't look like he's ready to share with his cousins. He prefers when they play girly stuff.

He'd rather play with Uncle Dave.

Zack too.

And what about Julia? Well, she only has eyes for Jordie.

The adults also had fun. Especially Uncle James :)

He's also the one who started the hula hoop contest.

Jeff and I also tried, but Ashley definitely beat us all!
