Back To School

Julia went back to school today. She did a lot better than last year, probably because we learnt yesterday that she was going to have the same teacher. The other 3 kids her age who were in her class last year are also in her class this year, all the others will be new friends. Knowing what and who to expect made it easier for Julia (and makes me worry already for next year!).

Julia didn't want us to walk her to school (or drive her) because she wanted to take the bus and I thought that we might as well start the routine and make sure the driver has her on his list. Julia did finally say though that I could come pick her up if it wasn't raining this afternoon. Anyway, we all went down this morning to wait for the bus which was supposed to come at 8.15 and was just a bit late.

She has a new bus driver, but I didn't get his name as I was busy trying to take a picture of Julia who was climbing in without looking back. The driver kindly told her to turn around and smile for me. Then she proceeded to go to "her spot" (first row, window, where she used to sit last year) but there was a lady sitting on the bench and so Julia asked her to move. The lady checked her list and was surprised to see that it was indeed Julia's spot again this year. Last year she was supposed to sit with a classmate named Chloe, but because they didn't get along they had to switch them and I noticed that Chloe was sitting a few rows back. I wonder if that lady will sit with Julia all the time to keep her quiet :)
Anyway, off she went and I hope she's having a great day, still tear-free!

Happy Birthday Aunt Emmy!

I don't know what Aunt Emmy's favorite cake is, but when I think of her, I think of Disney. So I thought I would make a "differently shaped cake" for her birthday.

If you can already guess from that first picture what it is that I was trying to make, you're good, and I'm happy I'm not that bad :) I was going to make Mickey Mouse, but then I thought I should do Minnie, since it's for a girl.

I know I'm not really good, but I hope you can still tell it's Minnie. I'm no pro + I ran out of red icing for the bow, but what matters most is that it's edible!!!!!

Good bye Uncle Jeff

Jeff is flying back to Utah right now. We had fun with him yesterday at the cottage and after at East Side Mario's where we celebrated his and Mom's birthday. Since Mom did all the work, I think we should have another party for her soon (do I mean cake by party?)!

The Cage

Since we don't need to protect Kelden from Simon anymore, we now use the fences to protect Zack from his brother.  We put the swing and the Jolly Jumper in the cage.

Kelden doesn't like this new idea because he can't go squeeze his brother to death anymore, or shove toys in his mouth any time he feels like it.

Last Week

This is the last week before school for Julia who starts on Tuesday. The school will post on Monday evening the lists of the classes and we'll know if Julia has the same teacher or goes back to a split class. Julia is already a bit stressed, but she's enjoying her last days off with her brothers.

Hoods

Zack got some sweatshirts with hoods for the fall I guess and he has started to wear them, because it's been cooler but also because I'm not sure they'll still fit him in a couple of months (the hoods might, they are big compare to the rest!)

The Australian outfit from Tata Carole also has a hood.

He's cute in those outfits, but hopefully the sun comes back!

A Trip to the Nurse

We went to the nurse again as Zack turned 4 months.

He now weighs 17 pounds 1 ounce and measures 26.5 inches.Yep, he's heavy! He now sleeps from 9pm to 3am, instead of 10 to 4, so it's the same number of hours, less fussy time, but it also means less sleep for me as Kelden usually keeps me up late.
Julia also went for a needle and the nurse was very impressed because, unlike Zack, she didn't cry at all. She actually would have watched the whole thing but the nurse told her to look away. My big girl! (yep, mine, Keld cries at the sight of a needle). She weighs 17,3 kilos, which is around 38 pounds I think, and measures 114cm, which, I am told, (thanks Ashley!) is 3ft 9 in. So she's growing well too and we're all happy!

Kelden didn't go see the nurse, but he was quite noisy in the "waiting area" so here's his picture too:)

We'll go back in another 2 months, we'll see if Zack will have slown down his growth...

Kelden is still into music and gets Julia to play with him.
