Moving Up

I'm not sure the title is appropriate but that's what I got for today.

Julia has been making some progress with her skiing. She's already better than her mom (which of course doesn't take much...)

Kelden has finished his first piano book and has received his first certificate. His teacher is quite proud of him, especially because of the enthusiasm he shows at every lesson and for any homework. He always wants to do more.

Today was the official kindergarten registration day. Of course, you technically can do it at anytime and even online, but I like going to the school on the official day. They make it a big deal for the kid, although when I came in everybody thought it was probably a big deal for me.

I used the sleigh to be faster. Zack was excited for his picture to be taken, like his siblings, and they did take it but this time he had a different frame.

He played with teachers and other kids while I filled out the papers and waited for Keld who was coming for Kelden's piano. Before leaving he got a little bag full of toys (bubbles, playdough, pencils, water bottle, stickers, a Lego movie character, etc.)

Next step: the four half days at the end of April.

Third Post of the Year

I wonder who can guess what my next title will be...I just don't have a theme to group the following pictures in.

We finally had a good day, last Saturday. It started by a very special delivery!

Then, Julia and Keld went skiing and grocery shopping. They didn't ski too much; it is still quite cold. Julia was also in a hurry to use her Christmas money from Special and Grandpa Bruce to buy some gloves that she had seen a week and a day ago (that's how long she had been waiting).

While they were away, Kelden was busy making a robot.

I am glad Keld was brave enough to cut his hair.

In the afternoon, we went skating. Of course, Kelden couldnt skate, which gave Keld a nice excuse...

So, it was the three of us. We couldn't bring the orange thing but Zack did okay.

Kelden took pictures and lots of videos

As you can see, Julia got tired, and jealous of Kelden, so they all ended up with Keld.

Today, we were back at the fracture clinic. Because it takes forever even with an appointment (our file was also misplaced after the X-ray) and because they made him a new cast (after which you have to check his toes for circulation issues), Kelden missed another day of school. They changed the cast because he had been complaining about pain (for which the doctor said to give Tylenol, not Advil as Advil slowns down bone growth)and they thought maybe it was because the cast too tight or something was touching in the wrong place. Turned out it was okay, but I guess he got to change color...

Our next appointment is in three weeks. He should get a walking cast then for another couple of weeks. In the meantime he got some reading from my parents. 2 Smurfs books.

He also got a Spiderman fève but it ended up in Zack's piece of cake, not his...

Second Post of the Year

Here's what we've been up to since last time I posted.

Kelden is back to school and very happy about it. He still has to go to the hospital every 7-10 days so he does skip some classes but that's okay.

Julia went back to the ski hill (we wanted her to because she was pretty stressed) but it was too cold to stay too long.

So they came back early to go celebrate Evan's birthday.

That same day we went to another celebration.

We didn't stay too long. We are still tired, Keld's back is giving him a hard time, and the kids are wilder than ever.

Hence our theme for the year..

First Post of the Year

From the title, you can already tell that I am not inspired. We finished 2014 without fanfare, we were so not in the mood that we took down all the decorations on New Year's Eve and didn't do anything special. We never stay up anyway (even if we might say we do because we stay past midnight France time...). Julia's last request of the year was a milkshake.

All we wanted to do on New Year's Day was sleep. Pain, anxiety and sickness have not allowed us to get enough of that precious commodity lately.

Kelden now has a fiber glass cast that glows in the dark.

Unfortunately, it doesn't erase pain or helps you sleep. He will have it for approximately 6 or 7 weeks. If by then it's not completely healed, he will have a smaller cast. After it's all done, the specialist will check to see if the other leg grew faster and if so, other "things" will be done. Yep, I did go to the hospital but only one person can accompany the patient, so that's what you get when Kelden chooses his dad, "things."
Since Kelden is too small for crutches, we are renting a wheelchair.

He hasn't been able to go back to school yet as they need to arrange for an assistant to be with him (to help him for the bathroom, etc.) and I think it has to be a male, which might be harder to find.  So he is at home, trying to have fun with Zack.

But he is mostly bored and frustrated. I am so sad for him I almost forgot today was a special day..We might have to tire les rois again this week but we did do it last minute. Zack was King and chose Julia as his Queen (I'm not sure she gave him a choice actually...)
