Happy Birthday Aunt Emmy

For Aunt Emmy's birthday, we tried to make an Hawaiian flower cake.

We did our best! Happy Birthday !!

Back to School

Julia, Kelden and Zack started school yesterday. The boys are still in the same school but it's Kelden's last year there as he is in Grade 6.

 

Julia, Grade 8, is also doing her last year at her school. She has been chosen to help the secretary during recess and lunchtime and she started today. She answers the phone and makes announcements. I think she likes it.

Kelden has the teacher Zack had in Grade 1 and Zack has the same teacher Julia had for her Grade 3. They are great teachers and I think it will go well.

Last Week of Vacation

We tried to have a lot of fun for the last week of vacation. We still went for our daily walks (well,  it's not really walks since they use bikes and skateboards, etc.)

We also went to the pool and had a water fight.

Ryan likes the water from the sprinklers too.

We went to visit the Nehers' farm.

And we went to the Kayak Challenge on Friday. We did some fishing and some drinking!

Tomorrow, new adventures are waiting!

Swimming Lessons

This past week, Zack, Kelden and Julia took some swimming lessons.

We put them only once a year and you can tell their progress!

 

Last year, Zack didn't complete his level 4 because his front crawl wasn't good enough. He was better at it this year and was therefore able to complete both level 4 and level 5.

Julia and Kelden were both trying for level 8.  They had to swim 300 m non-stop (12 laps), know few different swims and rescue techniques, etc. They were tired but they both got the level!

In the deep end, they practiced treading water. Zack did some diving and Julia and Keld climbed the rock wall (Kelden didn't do it on the day I took pictures though).
