Traveling to DisneyWorld

This time, we decided to drive to DisneyWorld. We took our time and left on the Friday, stopping for the night in Sault Sainte Marie.

On Saturday, we crossed the border and later on another bridge in Michigan: Mackinac.

We continued on to Ohio where we camped for the night again.

The next day being Sunday, we went to church somewhere in Kentucky.

We crossed Tennesse next.

And then we went all the way to Georgia where we stayed at the Lookout Mountain KOA. It is a really nice place.

We got up early on Monday to get Atlanta behind us.

And we made it to Florida! Jennings was our last rest before our final destination. We were early enough to enjoy the pool, the lake and the playground.

Finally Full-time Missionaries !

My parents didn't serve missions when they were young. My mom was getting ready to go when she met my dad and my dad was baptized at the age of 17. Somehow, they knew they had missed out and have always wanted to go together.

It has taken of lot of time and preparation but they have finally been called to the Congo-Brazzaville mission.

They will first serve under Président and Soeur Magré who are actually "old" friends of them.

The president, Jean-Luc, was my dad's neighbor. My dad actually baptized his parents. They went together to the Munich youth conference where my parents met. Jean-Luc is a few years younger than my dad and served a mission in Tahiti at the same time as my mom's sister Irène.

I remember his parents quite well as they were my neighbors too! I even received a letter from her on my mission after she had passed away.

Soeur Magré is somewhat known in the church since Elder Anderson talked about her in general conference (Spiritually Defining Memories.)

It is definitely very reassuring to know that they will be serving together! There are no other couple serving in the mission so it looks like they are going to be very busy. 18 months will fly by...

Have a safe trip this week-end!

Swimming Lessons (Round 2)

Ryan went for another week of swimming lessons.

The first day, he didn't want to do anything. He can put his head in the water, jump, do his assisted Superman with head in the water and other things, but only in Grandpa's pool...

On the second day, he didn't want to go at all. Julia tried to motivate him by racing him and putting her swimsuit first. Since she was all ready, they let her go with him (his instructor was one of her friends.) After that, he was more comfortable.

He still wasn't very brave. He had a hard time trying to actually swim. He would jump to the noodle but not really swim to it. When she was too far for him to jump, he would sink or not try at all. He thought putting his head in the water multiple times was enough :)

Because of his little progress, he passed the first baby level (Sea Otter) even if he can't swim 1 meter (he can only jump that far.) For the next level, you have to swim 2 meters (so like really swim, not just jump!) We're going to have to practice...
