They had a video-conference with a presentation that included videos and slideshows. It didn't really work because the internet was slow but the teacher sent it to us later and we were able to see it all.
Her teacher made a special certificate for each student. Julia was chosen as the most studious (which made us laugh...if we're not behind her every minute, there is no studying going on!!)
Then, there was a special recognition for those who did good during the learning at home phase. Julia was one of the three chosen from her class (the worst class it looked like).
For all that studying, she didn't get the $100 reward for those with a 90+ average but she did get the Caisse Populaire award which recompenses students who have interest and participate in visual arts projects. $50 ! She was so happy !!
I was also proud that she decided to share her talent and participate in creating a video/song to celebrate this last year. Only a few students joined in but I think it turned out OK. Julia is the one drawing so you don't see her. She drew the bull (the school mascot) with a tear and it says : You're already leaving? Then she draws symbols of everything they do at the school (science, chess, etc.) She ends with the logo of their next school.
In the afternoon, the teachers were at the school and the students could come and take pictures.
It was a hot day..
And she's off to high school! She starts July 2nd with French. She decided to do summer school this year to get ahead and take more arts or beauty classes later...Good luck!
