We have gone through one week of school (in itself a miracle) and I am beginning to think that there isn't going to be a routine for us this year. Sometimes they walk, sometimes they get a ride, sometimes they come back for lunch, sometimes they don't, sometimes we walk with them, sometimes we don't, etc.
Julia has seminary every morning at 7 but that might also change when they start doing it face to face.
She is supposed to have lunch with the Grade 10 students but she doesn't know any of them so she has decided to come home for lunch. She only has 40 minutes so it's pretty quick, especially if Keld can't pick her up. In a couple of months, when she is back with Grade 9 students, she might stay at school.
Kelden comes home for lunch every day, except for Wednesday (because he goes to piano). He has almost an hour and is the closest. He is home first in the afternoon, Julia ends earlier but she's further and she keeps walking until she meets us.
Zack walks home from school every day but in the morning, sometimes, Keld gives him and Kelden a ride.
We have tried to walk with him in the morning but he is much faster without us (unless I force Ryan to go in the stroller). It's not that Ryan can't walk or walks too slow. He just doesn't walk. He stops to pick up every rock, every leaf, every stick..He stares at everyone and every vehicle. He sometimes just sits on the sidewalk to admire..I'm not sure what. Anyway, it takes us 45 minutes to go to school at his pace when it takes Zack only 17. So, right now, since it's not too cold and Zack has no homework, we've been going in the afternoon but we don't want Zack to have to leave too early in the morning!
Ryan has been missing his siblings. There's only the dog to play with and no one to clean up the messes everywhere...oh wait, there's me !
Today, he found a backpack and said he was going to school. He was a bit upset when I said he couldn't. Soon enough, soon enough!
