More Skiing

Keld was able to get some videos last Saturday. Julia seemed to really enjoy herself and Kelden wasn't scared any more.

Kelden tried ski poles, but he didn't like it, so Zack took them back.

He doesn't mind waiting for his siblings. Skiing is actually his favorite sport, he said, even if he hasn't tried it yet!

It will be his turn soon enough!

Back to Skiing (and Skating)

We went back to Kamiskotia (a mountain, not a hill). Kelden started slowly and came back from his first round crying. So Julia went with her dad and when they came back, they tried to encourage Kelden to go with them. After hesitating, and being promised some fast food, he decided to try again. A lady we know had offered to give him a lesson and she came just at that time. It helped him regain confidence and he came back very proud of himself.

To find them in the next video, start looking at the top left: Julia is wearing pink pants and a black top, the boys are behind her.

Zack was very patient and we went skating afterward so he (and I) could enjoy some sport too.

Some people were tired, of course, and quickly went to enjoy a free hot chocolate in front of the fire.

Next time we go skating, we're hoping for free lessons from Grandpa Bruce !!

Skating

Last Saturday, the City had rented a rink for its employees so we all went as a family.

The kids really like it when Keld skates with us.

He brought us skating again yesterday, but this time, we were outside.  Lots of volunteers have been creating a figure 8 in one of the parks.

They have added Christmas trees, lights, toilets and a change room.

The weather finally allowed the rink to open last night and the person responsible told us we were the first "clients" (it's free, so I'm not sure clients is the best word).

They have also prepared a special spot to warm up and I think the plan is for free hot chocolate. I'll be back :)

Happy Birthday Evan !

Evan turned 3 today. He was already enjoying his cake when we came for the party.

Some pictures of the guests:

Lunch time:

Presents time:

We bought him something that he likes to play with when he's at our place: Mack. We thought he already had a Lightning McQueen to put in, but it was lost. So Uncle Jeff went to get him one! While he was playing with his new toys, the other boys went back to the cake...

Thank you everyone!

The Wise Men

We celebrated January 6th a couple of days earlier. My parents had brought us back everything we needed to party the traditional way. We had 2 fèves and 1 crown. We were missing the galette, of course, but I made a brioche.

Julia hid under the table to call out the names.

Keld got the first fève.

The bishop got the priest and was crowned King.

Kelden got the second fève.

Zack was jealous.

 Maybe next time!

The Week After Christmas

For the second week of holidays, we enjoyed the free skating and the free swimming again.

Keld had the whole week off, as he can't carry forward any days. He was pretty busy installing the air exchanger.

He also had a lot fun with the kids. They built a fort outside, with a tunnel and a slide.

We had the cousins for a sleepover.

And the grandparents on New Years' Eve. We did the countdown on France's time.

For the first day of the year, we went sliding.

Happy New Year everyone!
