Music Festival

Since I am now by myself, I have been able to enjoy the Music Festival a bit more. I went to see our ward violonists and also stayed to listen to woodwind instruments before and after Zack's class.

Zack was competing against the other kindergarten class in his school. It was a tie, but Zack says he won, of course.

Kelden sang yesterday.

He was competing against two other schools, including, Linda's.

Julia also sang yesterday and, like Kelden, her choir won.

She was singing again today, this time in English.  I went earlier to see Linda again.

Julia's choir won again. I have to say, they were really into the song!

And, since I'm putting video songs, here is another one of Zack's.

February Long Week-End

The kids started celebrating Valentine's Day at school.

It was too cold to go skiing on Saturday so we worked in the garage.

We started Family Day by feeding the animals.

Then we went skiing.

We then went sliding.

We finished the day with supper at the church.

Moving Up In the Piano World

Both Julia and Kelden finished their piano books last month. They were pretty proud.

Since Kelden is more "keen,"as their teacher says, he is already almost at the same level as Julia. However, the teacher wasn't sure he should put them both in the same course. After some internal debate, he decided to start the Grade 1 book with Julia and a pre-grade 1 book with Kelden. For those of us who are piano illiterate, it means that they are going from a book with nice little kids' pictures to a book where notes are written smaller and songs require more than a week to learn. (The teacher insisted on that for Kelden who thinks he is a failure if he doesn't get a new song every week).

Kelden was disappointed; going to Grade 1 seemed an honor that he deserved more than Julia, but he likes his new book. There are pictures at the back that show the other books in the series: grades 1 to 10, and then a book for teachers. So Kelden now wants to be a  piano teacher. His teacher said he will rent him his house when he's ready :)

Happy Birthday Jordan !

Today, Jordan is turning 10. But Keld felt that 10 candles were too much. (He felt quite old this afternoon when he realized that Jordie was almost a Young Men).

We hope he is having a great time for his special day!

Happy Birthday !

Knitting Projects

Extra-curricular activities are usually expensive and time-consuming, so when Julia heard about the knitting club at school, she wasn't sure she would be able to participate. However, it turned out to be free and during lunch time, perfect!
Her first project with the teachers was a neck warmer.

She was so enthusiastic that we bought her some needles for Christmas. They were a bit too small, so we bought her bigger ones and now we have a pair for Kelden!

At home, she also made a neck warmer.

She wanted to move on to hats, so we bought her the necessary equipment.

The first hat was a bit small, so she gave it to the doll and she made herself a headband.

She tried the hat again, with a more extensible yarn and it worked a bit better.

She's working on another one now!
