Family Employee Day

A couple of weeks ago we went to a barbecue for the employees of the City of Timmins and their families. The games had been brought inside for fear of rain.
We started with face painting.

Kelden wanted something scary...

Zack didn't want his face painted, he was too busy playing in the train.

We tried baseball...

..and laser tag.

Julia also tried to climb with her dad.

But she quit half-way through and Keld had to finish on his own. Hula-hoop is easier.

At least, for her...

School Is Over Tomorrow

The kids have been busy this month, celebrating the end of the school year. They had their annual concert and their annual Survivor Day. Kelden also had a graduation party and went to Cedar Meadows while Julia visited the water treatment plan and went to the Hollinger Park. Today is movie day.
Let's start with the concert. Kelden sung about bugs.

Julia's song is all about speaking French everywhere.

The French in me has always made fun of graduation ceremonies, with their silly robes and hats. Kids may no look so ridiculous though. They started their little party with some songs.

Then they had the official ceremony.

Mme Julie, his teacher

Mme Elianne, the assistant, and Placotine, the mascot.

So now he can go to Grade One! Zack wishes he could go to any grade...

No graduation for Julia, but we went to the Hollinger Park with her.

She tried the water, but it was too cold for her. She didn't stay long enough for me to take a picture!

Happy Birthday Auntie Becca !

I think Auntie Becca likes cheesecakes too, but my family really doesn't (or maybe it's just the way I make them). Julia had a few bites last week and that was it. So guess who hate the whole cake by herself ? I wasn't sure I wanted to eat a whole other one this week, so I made something chocolate.

We hope Auntie Becca had a great birthday!

Happy Father's Day

Both Julia and Kelden had prepared some gifts for their dad at school. I like Kelden's teacher's idea: BBQ spices! It means we have to buy steak now, right?

Julia did some drawings of her dad's favorite toys and then put her picture on them.

On the back there is a magnet so Keld can display them at work.

At church, they also prepared a little gift (Root Beer for a great Pop) and answered some questions. According to Kelden, Keld is 880 years old (so now I am flattered that he thought I was only 50) and he spends his day playing with him (he wishes!). His dad is really good at building legos and Kelden loves him because he fixes his toys. On the other hand, his dad loves him because he gives him lots of hugs.
According to Julia, we never celebrated Keld's birthday this year since he is still 33! She doesn't know what he does all day but supposes it's work. He is good at making beds and she loves him because he is special. He loves her because she is cute.
They both ended the sentence: My Dad always says....by "I love you."

This afternoon, we went for our traditional Father's Day cemetery tour, remembering Grandpa Bruce's and Special's dads who have passed on, as well as other family members.

I hope Keld had a great father's day with his children.

Grandpa Bruce only had two of his children, but I hope he had a good day anyway!

My dad only saw one of his children today, but we did get to talk to him!

My parents are planning to come to Canada next year, so maybe we'll have Father's Day with him in 2015!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan !!

We're back to the traditional cheesecake this year for Uncle Jordan's birthday. Knowing that today was going to be a busy day, I made it yesterday. This morning Keld thought we should sing before he left for work so I could eat it throughout the day. Good idea!

We hope Uncle Jordan is having a good day today, celebrating his last birthday starting with a 2.
Maybe he got some gifts..

Joyeux Anniversaire  Uncle Jordan!!

Handsome Kelden

The other day one of Kelden' s classmates came to school with a dress shirt and everybody said he was handsome, well I believe the word used was actually "smart". The next day, Kelden asked to wear a shirt AND a tie, to be even more handsome, or smart. He must have got lots of compliments because he wore shirts and ties all that week.

You might notice that these shirts are too small for him..I've had them for quite some time but he had never showed such an interest in them until now!

He put the right shirt for their Hawaii Day, but I had to tell him that a tie would ruin the Hawaiian effect...

If you wear a shirt and a tie every day, what is your Sunday dress?

We finally found some suits on sale. Kelden is so proud to look like his dad!!! (He was actually ready to go sit on the stand yesterday!).

To finish, let's put some casual wear pictures:

See, he doesn't need a shirt or a tie to look handsome ;)

Happy Birthday Joseph!

We saw that Joey has already celebrated his birthday (with cousins!) and we celebrated early too. I made a cake yesterday. I used a new recipe because Julia wanted a chocolate cake (she said Joey wouldn't mind) and I wanted to use up sour cream. The cake was good but the icing wasn't great. It sure didn't work well as cement and the cake actually collapsed. (Yes, I am blaming it on the icing, there is no way it would be MY fault :). We had to take off a layer so it would look half-decent. For decorations we put Mickey faces since we met Joey at Disneyworld!

Like I said, we met Joey at Disneyworld but I have no pictures of my own to prove it!

Hopefully next time I see him, I'll remember to take more pictures!
