A Glimpse Of What It Will Be Like

With Kelden in the preschool program and Julia at school, it was just Zack and I at home. It gave me a glimpse of what it will be next school year.
I had hoped for less crying, less fighting, less biting and more free time. As usual, my hopes were shattered. Instead of going after Kelden, Zack came after me. Oh well...

His mischievous look

I'm coming to get you!

Faster, faster!

I can drive better than you!

If you think I'm learning my shapes, my colors and my numbers...

Okay, here's a kiss...

... for Dad!

I think it is going to be an interesting school year...

Turning 60

I haven't been posting the "French birthdays" on the "English site" and vice-versa, but for this one I will, because since my Mom's birthday was on a Sunday, I brought the cake to Special's and we all got to sing together...and that was awesome. Just listen.

Of course, I made a chocolate cake for my Mom (it was Cheryl's recipe-without the chocolate chips, I forgot-too busy eating them for breakfast!). Julia noticed that she could re-use the candle for her own birthday...
Here is a little slideshow with pictures from the last 40 years of my Mom's life (I didn't have any pictures of my Mom before the 70s. Maybe I will do better for her 90th birthday, when I am past 60!)

And for those of you, who, just like me, didn't make it to the party they had yesterday, here's a couple of pictures.

60 is definitely not as old as I once thought it was! I think my Mom is still so full of energy and we wish her the best for many many years to come !!

Graduation

Julia graduated from Kindergarten yesterday! The report card said she was ready to face the Grade 1 challenges. She is actually very excited to be a "big" girl in September. She says she will do her homework on her desk (she hasn't had any homework yet and is looking forward to it...we'll see how long this enthusiasm will  last). She also says she will take good care of Kelden, by playing with him at recess.
For her teacher, she made a frame. We still have to find a picture.

Kelden graduated this morning. And with a big ceremony! We received pictures taken during those 5 school weeks. I am not allowed to post those with other kids...

Show and Tell

Big mess called slime

Pasta necklace

Father's day picture

Dress the bear

He was very intimidated at the graduation ceremony but we could tell he knew all the songs and eventually participated.

Congratulations!

That program was a good way to help him get ready for school. He has made lots of progress, learn lots of new things, made lots of new friends and most of all, had lots of fun !!!!

Good luck for September !

Father's Day

Neither Julia nor Kelden could wait for Sunday to show their father's day gifts. In fact, they couldn't even wait for their father! As soon as she came home from school, Julia opened her envelop.

There was a ray of sunshine inside (that's what she said), one that her dad can bring anywhere!

She also had a picture he can bring everywhere too!

She did keep the song they learnt for Sunday morning (but she wasn't too loud)!

Kelden had also prepared some gifts at school, some "secrets" he would say. He was very proud of them and therefore his school week went pretty well. He missed "Show and Tell" though because he was sick on Friday. However, today we saw one of his teachers, Madame Kaytlan (I had to put her name, having never seen that spelling) and she said that she had asked for permission to let him do it on another day this week! I had told her that we don't have "Show and Tell" in France and that  was excited for Kelden..now I have to think of something...
Anyway, he made a card and he also had a picture for his dad. He apparently really liked the camera and came up to it with a big smile and screaming "cheeseburger!!!!!!!!"

I don't know what was special about their camera, because he sure did not like mine yesterday when I tried to take a picture of Keld and his kids!

Oh well, we know he loves his dad...

...and so do we!!

Happy Birthday Auntie Becca!

Yesterday (I know I'm late!) we celebrated Becca's birthday at the cottage. She's the youngest of all our brothers and sisters. And I'm the oldest (well, on Keld's side). In fact, I learnt today that if I had married as early as Aunt Leta, I could have been her mom !!! Anyway, to realize that Becca is not a teenager any more, somehow makes me feel really old...
She chose cheesecake (I guess it's a June thing). I think Keld took wonderful pictures (I just had to mention it wasn't me...).

Of course,  I don't have pictures of Becca when she was 10 years younger. The first pictures I have of her are the ones I took when I was in Young Women, and she's still so young that she doesn't look any different, but just for the tradition, here are some of them.

Joyeux Anniversaire !!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!

Kelden  asked me the other day to make him a cake for his birthday. I told him that it wasn't his birthday but that the next one would be Uncle Jordan's. Yesterday, feeling hungry for chocolate chips, he came to me and said: "You have to make cookies for Uncle Jordan's birthday." No, for Uncle Jordan's birthday, I don't. He prefers cheesecake.

Julia decorated it.

You see, Jordan, you wouldn't have to share your cake too much with us. Kelden wanted cookies and didn't even try the "white cake."

Julia only tried one bite. But she did eat the strawberries.

And Zack is really not sure yet...

And now, a picture of the birthday boy...

Last Pd Day

Well, technically it's not the last one since I think that school ends on a Thursday because the Friday is a pd day. Anyway, last Friday was almost the last pd day for the French Catholic school board and, since Kelden's program uses one of their schools, neither him nor Julia had school. It was therefore a very short week for Kelden but a very good one. He didn't cry and came home quite happy. The highlight probably was the crazy hair day. We're not crazy, so we didn't know what to do. We first thought we could just let him go with his normal hairdo, when he wakes up.

But since it wasn't going to last, we went to get some spray from Special.

Kelden really didn't like having his hair like that, but he was quite proud of the caterpillar he made that day.

But, let's go back to that pd day. It was a nice day and so we were able to go outside.

We ended up going to the park (or rather parks) with a neighbor who was babysitting her niece and grandson. Her grandson might be in Kelden's class in September. Kelden had played with another boy that might be in his class the other day at the park too (and whose mom is Australian!). Let's hope that recognizing some faces at the school will help him feel more comfortable.

Back (again) to the pd day. The craft for the day was making binoculars. I knew Kelden would like the painting part. Julia likes painting too, but it's more serious for her.

And here are the results:

Of course, we also did our normal chores, such as baking...

...which is Zack's favorite too!

Well, I have some baking to do today actually...
