Ryan's Blessing Day

For his blessing day, Ryan wore the outfit my mom had knit for Zack's blessing. Granny Scott gave him the booties at the end of the day (I'm not sure you can see them well in the picture though).

His siblings had put lots of time and effort, and also much love into the musical number they performed right before the blessing. I know that it's not perfect, but the message is beautiful and I am proud of them.

Remember

Remember little child, your celestial parents
Would take you in their arms, a time not far distant
But today, you are here, precious gift of love
And your eyes still reflect Heaven’s light above
Oh, tell me, little child, of that place in heaven
For the veil is so thin for you, little one.

Remember little child, the trees, the city
Can we, here, down below, imagine their beauty ?
And the sky, till sunset, is it pink or grey ?
Is it snow, is it rain, after sunshine’s ray ?
Please, tell me, little child, the songs of the birds,
The colors of the fields, in a forgotten world.

Remember little child, when it all began
Together, we would play as the best of friends
Then, one day, with great joy, we chose to follow
The great plan of our Lord, the way for us to grow
And I know, little child, you promised me then
That through love, that through faith, we would meet again

We were lucky, Ryan was quiet during the whole time. Keld pronounced the blessing and Grandpa Bruce, Uncle James, Uncle Jeff and Uncle Jim were part of the circle.

I had forgotten, but Julia too was blessed on a November 26th.

1 month!

Ryan is one month old today. Granny held him at church this morning and said that she found him heavy. He is in fact the lightest of all our kids at that age. Zack, who was the lightest at birth was the biggest at one month.

At birth:

Kelden, 8 lbs 13

Ryan, 8 lbs 10

Julia, 8 lb 8

Zack, 8 lbs 1

Around one month:

Zack, 10 lbs 11

Kelden, 10 lbs 58

Julia, 10 lbs 54

Ryan, 9 lbs 9

He is lighter but just as tall as his brothers were (Julia was smaller). At any rate, he is growing well and that's what matters.

Some people think he looks different from his siblings, others say he looks just like them.

I definitely see some resemblance.

Remembrance Long Week-End

Since Friday was a pd day, the kids had their Remembrance Day celebration on Thursday.

Above is a note from my grandmother dated July 1944. It says "Everybody is talking about the Americans. There are almost here and we are anxiously waiting for them."
We are grateful they came and grateful to all those who fight  for freedom.

Keld had taken Thursday and Friday so he attended the celebration too and was able to play with the kids on their day off.

He also spent some time with Ryan, of course.

He brought the oldest boys hunting on Saturday and realized they need to get better prepared for the cold.

He also played chef and made us millefeuilles and éclairs.

He deserves some sweetness after the difficult nights. Having the baby in the same room makes it harder for him not to hear him.

On Sunday, we had our Primary presentation. Julia, Kelden and Zack each performed a song on the piano. I filmed them in the morning. Well, not Zack. He didn't want to be filmed and then said that since he played it for my parents (while we were talking to them) there was no need to film him.

I'll end with some more pictures of Ryan.

Happy Birthday Julia !

Julia turned 11 last Saturday.  We bought her a cake decorating tool since she said she is into baking now. She did decorate the cupcakes.

I think she got exactly what she asked for.  Thank you everyone.
Now, Kelden's turn!
