Music Festival

Julia was supposed to sing with her class for the Music Festival last Friday. Since it was a snow day (or an ice day, I'm not sure what it was) I didn't know if they would reschedule until I received an email from her teacher this morning. I didn't check emails early today, I was busy packing for our next pet-sitting session, so by the time I read it, I knew I had to run if I wanted to make it. Running with a heavy stroller (with a heavy boy in it) on Denise Street in February was tough but I made it. Just in time.

Julia (and her fellow singers) won with A ++. She was proud. I was proud too and now, that I have a DVD player working I can finally put her school pictures.

I'll have to do a post about Kelden now...

They say it's even more fun in the summer...

Animal Kingdom

The first time we went to Animal Kingdom it was very cold (well, for Florida I guess, but still...). Maybe they needed to warm up, but the animals were running all over the place and the lion was roaring lots, so we still had some good luck there.
We saw animals from far:

up close:

Animals we recognize well...

others I don't...

Neither Julia nor Kelden liked the dinosaur ride. I knew they wouldn't since they are, especially Julia, scared of the dark. Julia didn't even want to try it at first, so we just took Kelden.

He was definitely scared but since he survived, Julia decided she would try and he went back with her. He wasn't as scared the second time, but still. They didn't want to do that one again.

Dad sure had fun both times :)
Zack couldn't go on that ride (but I don't think he screamed for Special like he would for me). His favourite thing at Animal Kingdom was Nemo the musical. He also liked the train that brings you to Pocahontas and Rafiki (and the petting zoo, but we were too cold by that time to go around).

We also saw Mickey, of course...

WoodyBuzz

Kelden didn't really care about meeting Disney characters. He would go with Keld while I went to see princesses with Julia. He waited for Jake and Lightning with Mater but the only one he asked to see was Buzz, because he had promised a friend he would take a picture for him. So we waited for Buzz (and Woody, as they were together) when it wasn't too long. We actually had fun waiting for them:

And we made it ! Zack had actually met Buzz before.

Right after meeting Woody and Buzz, we met a Green Army Man.

The "Toy Story rides" were among our favorites.

At the end of one of them, you can accompany Zurg in prison.

And, of course, we had to have lunch once at Pizza Planet.

It looks like Kelden was really hungry that day :)

Belle

As you studied with utmost interest the pictures I posted of Julia with princesses, you noticed that one of the most popular was missing: Belle. We did try to get her autograph a few times but never got it (lots of bad luck on that trip, we were told one day that she hadn't shown up for work and they didn't know when/if she would come later...Knowing her French side, I'd say she was on strike...)
Anyway, we did see her a couple of times in her castle to re-enact her story.

Both Julia and Kelden got to play the "shivering dad." I guess you're good at shivering when you come from Timmins! Kelden was disappointed because he really did his best during the audition for the Beast but didn't get that part.
Kids, but also adults, have a lot of fun. Grandpa Bruce was a wonderful wardrobe, he sounds just like her, listen:

And I'm sure you guessed who that knight was.
After the show, Belle hugs all the participants.

We also got to eat in Belle's castle. It was pretty well done. I liked the décor and the food wasn't too bad (not like in France but way better than what I cook).

We went to the West wing when the Beast wasn't looking...

Zack now knows that I am not Belle...(he always thought I was).

Maybe I should learn to do my hair like she does...

Happy Birthday Uncle Dave !

We're back, so now I can make cakes !! And there is a good excuse today: it's Uncle Dave's birthday.

Since we just saw him I actually have a recent picture this time.

We hope you had a good birthday!

Disneyworld 2014

The Scotts really like Disney World and so we went again this year. Jeff just sent us a group picture.

Julia asked me what my favorite part was and honestly I had to say it was to see her and Kelden having fun, behaving so well and walking all day without complaining (except maybe that we were going a little bit too fast sometimes). Zack was good too...as long as his Dad was with him. Almost every time his Dad took the others on a ride he couldn't go on, he would scream, yell, cry, kick and everybody around us would either try to give him something (he wouldn't take anything) or just stare at me as if I was the most horrible mother on earth.

I tried everything (give him food, bring him to other rides..) but he wouldn't even let me touch the stroller (I sometimes would keep kicking it away so the same people wouldn't have to listen to his screams for half an hour).
But, coming back to good behavior, all of the kids were good travellers. They are now used to waiting for hours and hours for delayed flights. Julia always gets bad earaches and was walking with a throw-up bag on the way back but she was very patient nonetheless.

It took us all day but we made it ! Ready for some magical days with Mickey..

I wasn't sure that Julia would want to meet princesses (she's more into Barbie now, well, she would be into Monsters High if I let her!) but I didn't know what she would think of the rides either so I gave her the challenge of getting as many autographs as she could, from princesses and other Disney characters. I think she has 33 signatures in her book, the first one being Merida.

She didn't get the latest Disney stars (Anna and Elsa) because the wait was too long but she still got to see them ;)

She got quite a few non-princesses autographs.

Okay, Dumbo and Bruce didn't sign, neither did McQueen and Mater...

But Zack liked meeting them !
