Party Time at School

Kelden went to the Timmins Museum with his class for his end-of-school-year-outing. They have a bird exhibition on right now.

I didn't go with him, but we saw him at lunch (we went every lunch this week to give Julia her medication).

He also already received his end-of-school-year-gifts.

He received two books to practice his coloring and writing as well!
Julia didn't go anywhere, but they had a special breakfast for her today.

She also received presents from her teacher and friends.

They are happy when school is over !

Zack loves it too :)

Young Women

I was surprised, but quite happy, when Keld completely forgot to release Becca from her calling in YW yesterday. (I didn't care so much about Jeff's release). The lessons are much better with her. It is sad though that during her time as a leader we didn't have enough Young Women to plan lots of fun activities, like we used to.

Ah, maybe next time...

May Long Week-End

Julia saw a picture of Queen Elizabeth on a magazine at the store yesterday and asked why we have Queens. We obviously don't need them any more, unless you count using them as excuses for days off, like this past Monday. This first long week-end is also (usually) the first week-end at the cottage.
Saturday was a really nice day. We were able to enjoy all the toys outside.

The helicopter didn't last long. First, Kelden broke the antenna (he was upset and went for a "nap")

Then Uncle Jeff got it stuck in a tree.

The water was too cold for a swim (at least the adults thought so) but we still had fun with the paddle boat.

Unfortunately, the temperature on Monday was not so good and it rained quite a bit, which didn't bother some of us.

But of course, you had to play inside from time to time so as not to get cold.

As you can see, there is lots to do inside too! And the best part inside is probably the food:

When am I ever going to get smiles from Kelden ?

Education Week

Last week, for education week, the school had a theme for every day and you could dress up according to the theme. We missed some days (like the sports theme- since we don't have any Team France shirts for the kids) but we participated in others.

Kelden really wanted to do something for Crazy Hair Day. Of course, of the two I have that go to school, it's the one who doesn't have hair who wants to do Crazy Hair Day. Even if I had had any spray, he hasn't got enough hair to sculpt anything and I don't have a clown wig  (I saw some on the bus with that) so this is all I could come up with:

I don't know how long he lasted with them on, they were in his backpack when he came back. Julia told me that even if she hadn't done anything special to her hair, people still thought she had crazy hair, which doesn't surprise me. Here she is, dressed up as a cook for "Job Day" still with crazy hair...

Parents were invited to lunch with their kids on the Friday. We went to Julia's classroom...

...because Kelden's was too crowded !

It was hard to convince him to change (they were watching Franklin).

Good thing I had made fresh cookies :)

Zack is definitely really jealous of his siblings who can go to school.

He might have been able to go this September in France (since he is almost potty trained- one accident this week still) but they won't take him until September 2015 here. He's stuck with me!

Mother's Day

It is Mother's Day in Canada (and Switzerland) today.  Both Julia and Kelden worked hard at school to prepare me some gifts. Zack didn't do anything of course, but he still wanted to be included in the pictures.

Before going to church, we practised their songs for Sacrament meeting.

You might be wondering why Kelden wore his winter coat, but he needed it (outside).

We made it to church and Kelden actually sang this time (at least a little bit). They planted flowers during sharing time and answered a questionnaire about their moms. What surprised me most was what Julia and Kelden said to complete the sentence: My Mommy laughs when... I guess they have no idea about what makes me laugh. They both talked about cupcakes. Julia said I laugh when I see funny cupcakes and Kelden when I get to eat one. Someone must have been talking about cupcakes at that time! What did not surprise me was what they said to: I love when my Mom...hugs me (said Julia) eats muffin with me (said Kelden). Kelden also said his favorite thing to do with me is baking cookies (not surprising at all).
What made everybody laugh is how old Julia guessed I was. Kelden said I was 4 (maybe he didn't understand the question and just said his age). Julia said she didn't know and guess 55. I do look older than 35.

I guess I am wise beyond my years...

Springtime !

As you know, we didn't wait for the weather to match the calendar before going out !

Now that the weather is nice, it's time to work !!

Raking is a lot of work, but apparently so is biking without training wheels (at least for my very non-athletic kids!)

Even walking is hard for Kelden..
