School Report - Zack

I miss going to the schools for parents/teachers interviews to get an idea of the environment the children are in all day and also to be told that my kids are great! I sometimes need the reminder:) But this, year, Zack goes to school by himself...

Of course, having had children in that school for 10 years, I know lots of the teachers there (arts, science, sports) but this year, they have a new principal and Zack's main teacher is not one the others had before. I met her before school started via TEAMS and then she organized another TEAMS meeting in lieu of an open house. She told us then that the children were way below their levels in both reading and maths. At first, she wasn't allowed to give homework (to alleviate the children's stress) and then she didn't want the kids to go home and sit at a desk after doing that all day (since their movements are limited now inside the school). But they really need to catch up, so homework it is!

She gave me a call to talk about his report card and said not to worry about Zack, he is doing great.

There won't be a Christmas concert either but the new principal said that the virus wasn't going to prevent them from getting into the Christmas spirit! She had the two pine trees in front of the school decorated with 2020 lights and invited the parents to drive by last Saturday. Santa Claus and the staff were there to wave at us.

The children had been given a Tim Horton's gift card so we also went to get doughtnuts.

Apparently, those lights are among the 8 most beautiful decorations of the North.
