I didn't think he would mind waiting for the party. I might have been wrong. As soon as we said "Happy Birthday" on Thursday, he wanted Brucey, cake and presents. Brucey came that day (a good thing!) but he waited anxiously for the cake and the presents.
He wanted everything on his cake: Buzz, Thomas, R2D2, Zurg, etc. I wasn't sure how Grandma Special could do that but, sure enough, she did it! We were impressed, he was happy!
We had hotdogs for lunch, not too fancy, so Keld used one of Mom's ideas and made them look like boats.
I think Zack realized that the wait was worth it.
We go him a bike...
...but I think he preferred everything "Thomas," starting with a new T-shirt:
and real Thomas and friends' wood trains:
I thought his sharing skills had improved but he sure isn't letting anyone near those trains !
Grandma Special and Grandpa Bruce also got him a "record the story yourself" book (a book about Thomas the Train- but that goes without saying). I wish they could have seen the look on his face when he heard his name at the end the first time!! Oh, how I wish I had a book like that from my grandparents...
Anyway, for the others we had mini goodie bags with cheerleading pom-poms for the girls and water guns for the boys.
Nothing for the adults but they didn't look too disappointed.
Well, it's over Zack, the party is all done, you're officially a big boy now.
Next birthday is Keld's, the crazy Dad...
But to end this post, I am putting a video of the children singing "I Hope They Call Me On a Mission"
I will show it too Zack when he turns 18, in a few years...
Absolutely loved watching him enjoy his birthday! What a wonderful boy! Love him soooooo much! XXOO from Special
