For Ashley, we (well Keld) followed the golden rule and gave her what he would want to be given...(and has actually been given in the past). Do I need to mention what that would be?
For Linda, it is Julia who took care of the gift.
Our kids didn't really eat lots at the party, not even cake (I guess it was too nice to be eaten, and I don't even have a picture of it!), but they ate from their goodie bags at home.
Kelden keeps asking me why it's not his birthday too! There are quite a few more birthdays for others before it's actually his turn...Patience, patience...
